Stalk and Stem Vegetables and Legumes

You can taste the freshness of some vegetables from that first bite and most of the varieties that fall into this category are no exception. Celery, leeks and asparagus are all great examples of where freshness is paramount. Also part of the stalk and stem category is the dessert friendly rhubarb. Freshness is also super important when it comes to Legumes. Snow peas and beans fall into this group and always taste best when they have that crunch. Other legumes include alfalfa and these vegetables are all important sources of protein and fibre.
